WordPress Gets Revamped

WordPress.com, the hosted version of Automattic’s content manager, has been revamped and the new version is codenamed Calypso. The company has also announced that it’s open-sourcing WordPress.com. Calypso is written purely in JavaScript, 100% API powered, able to manage plugins and themes on Jetpack sites and is capable of much more.

WordPress Now Powers 25% of the Web

One in four websites [25%] is now powered by WordPress, reports W3Techs. The report states, “WordPress is used by 58.7% of all the websites whose content management system we know. This is 25.0% of all websites.” While these numbers naturally fluctuate over the course of the month, the general trend for WordPress has been slow but steady growth.

WordPress Denied 43% of DMCA Takedown Requests

WordPress has released the latest recurring transparency report (2015) which shows 43% of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act takedown requests (total 4,679 DMCA request) it received have been rejected--12% of those were "abusive". Web Sheriff, Audiolock, and InternetSecurities were the top three organizations submitting these requests. In the last six-month period, WordPress was obliged on 17% of 101 requests.
