Amazon Cutting Jobs In Hardware Division

Due to the critical and commercial disaster of Amazon’s Fire Phone, Amazon is firing dozens of engineers in its Lab126 hardware unit, reports Wall Street Journal. Over the years, Lab126 has introduced some successful products (Fire Tablet, Kindle e-reader). But, 'lack of focus' has led to a ton of turnovers at Lab126. Amazon Unveils New Marketplace For Entrepreneurs

Amazon unveiled a new program aimed at startups called Amazon Launchpad, which will help entrepreneurs "launch, market and distribute their products". Entrepreneurs can use the platform to set up a storefront, providing users a simple onboarding process, custom product pages, inventory management and marketing materials. Amazon's advantage is its audience - millions of monthly visitors giving entrepreneurs a massive target.
