Repto Won BRAC Manthan Award; Looking Forward To Be A Better Brand

Repto, an online education startup was conceived with a dream to change the education system in Bangladesh. The startup was founded by Istiyak Sheyam, a student himself, who hopes to break the boundary of the traditional education system. He, along with his team, took part in GP Accelerator and became one of the top five teams to receive the support and funding from Grameenphone and SD ASIA.

The primary objective of Repto is to allow people to learn valuable new skills easily which will help them to upgrade their skill sets. Currently, it has over 100 active courses for programming, business, science, photography, filmmaking, Microsoft, etc.  and  has almost 50 professional instructors.

The startup was recently announced as the winner of the prestigious BRAC Manthan Award. BRAC, in association with Digital Empowerment Foundation, launched a separate entity called the BRAC Digital Innovation Award (BMDIA) to recognize digital innovation in Bangladesh. The award was focused on encouraging more grassroots ICT innovators so that they get a chance to be recognized at a national and international level.

14 winners were announced by BMDIA on 8th October. Those who had extraordinary contributions for development in the field of ICT got the award. Repto won the award in the e-education, science, and employment sector. It has a great impact on the society and a high commercial viability. The best part about Repto is its user- friendliness. All these made it possible for Repto to become the winner of BRAC Manthan Award 2016.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister of ICT was excited about the achievement and success of Repto- Education Center. The Proper Education system is yet to reach the rural areas of Bangladesh. Besides, quality education and most of all, quality teachers is a great concern. Zunaid Palak said- “This constraint could easily be passed by developing e-learning.” He further said, “Repto took an amazing initiative. I congratulate the young entrepreneurs who initiated the idea of Repto. These entrepreneurs are taking us forward to fulfill the dream of Digital Bangladesh. Repto will do better in future and will definitely go a long way.”

Recently we got a chance to talk to Istiyak Sheyam and he shared his views about the win. He said, “We are very happy and proud. This was a prestigious win for us. There are so many other startups and yet from all of them, we won the award. Winning this award not only boosted our confidence but helped a lot with our networking.”

Repto is focused on changing the education system of Bangladesh. BRAC and Repto both being in the education sector can work together in the future, Sheyam expects. He is looking forward to making Repto a better brand. They have plans to make a partnership with BASIS, a2i, and other big organizations to turn Repto into a bigger platform.
