Often for Dhaka city dwellers, simple tasks such as hiring an electrician can be a hassle. First of all, there is a problem with security. People don’t want to let an unknown person walk into their houses. Second issue is the quality of the service. No one wants to overpay–or worst case: pay twice– to fix the same thing. The Chief Service Officer (CSO) of SHEBA, Mr. Adnan Imtiaz Halim, wanted to solve this household problem for Dhaka dwellers by creating a single platform for hiring service professionals.
SHEBA is the first ever service platform of Bangladesh to solve day-to-day household problems. It was launched on 22nd January 2016. SHEBA provides one stop solution for different services like electrical, plumbing, cleaning, laundry, pest control, car servicing, computer or mobile service, lift/generator maintenance and many more.
All the service providers in SHEBA’s platform are highly skilled and their backgrounds are verified by SHEBA’s own quality control team. With an aim to provide convenience, SHEBA’s platform is open 7 days a week and 24 hours a day.
Currently, SHEBA is beta testing its services in Baridhara area, Dhaka. To get SHEBA’s service, one has to just place his/her request via a phone call (01678 444 000), and it will be delivered within 30 minutes.
SHEBA authenticates high quality service in three steps. First, SHEBA’s team checks the background of the service provider to make sure he has no bad record with customers. The team then sends the picture and relevant details (phone number, ID, price, etc.) of the service provider to the person who requested the service. After the service, the team sends a quality control person to get feedback.
The whole process is designed to enhance customer satisfaction, and it also provides a large employment opportunity for the service providers. SHEBA’s future plan is to provider their services to big corporations and startups, who are often too busy or require fast logistic services.
Due to the platform’s uniqueness, SHEBA has been selected as one of the top five startups in the GP Accelerator program, where they are receiving mentorship and office space. SHEBA has also received seed funding from the program.
