Online newspaper launches search engine

bdnews24.com, one of the local online news websites has launched a search engine to scan the website for classified advertisements. The ‘Classified Search Engine’ provides the users with a single hub to access all advertisements available on online marketplaces in Bangladesh. To access the classified advertisement database, what a user needs to do is just click on bdnews24.com/classifieds. Previously, it was difficult for online subscribers to track all classified advertisements. With this initiative by bdnews24 the subscribers will have to go through a lot less hassle.

Classified advertising is a form of advertising which is particularly common in newspapers, online or other periodicals which may be sold or distributed free of charge. Classified advertisements are cheaper than larger display advertisements used by businesses, and are therefore normally used by businesses with smaller advertising budgets.

In light of this new initiative, the internet-based newspaper’s Head of New Media and New Business, Mr. M Rashed Ahsan said, “This intelligent search engine will show all classified advertisements about buying and selling in Bangladesh from home and abroad. It can be referred to as the hub of all classifieds.”

Previously, print media were the only source of classified advertisements in Bangladesh. Not anymore. In case of online classified advertisements, Bikroy.com, ekhanei.com, carmudi.com.bd and lamudi.com.bd have taken over that space and has made a name for themselves in the field of classified advertisements.

Ahsan further said, “Suppose someone is looking to rent a place or to buy old furniture. In that case, they can see advertisements from multiple classified databases on bdnews24.com at once.”

He further said that bdnews24.com has launched the search engine, built by a famous Norwegian firm, to offer something new to the consumers with more ease of use.
