SD Asia Launches it’s Bangla Website

SD Asia, a content and event platform for startups and entrepreneurs has entered the Bangla domain. In less than a year SD Asia had positioned itself as one of the key media organizations in Bangladesh’s Startup and Entrepreneurship ecosystem. On February 21st, 2015 SD Asia has launched it’s Bangla website:

Having built a strong readership base from Bangladesh and abroad through it’s English website (, there had been a growing demand from the Bangladeshi startup community to find Bangla content as well. To meet this demand, SDAsia chose 21st February, Bangladesh’s Language Movement Day to launch the Bangla version of the website.

In the occasion of launching the Bangla website Mustafizur Khan, Founder and CEO of SD Asia said, “We reached one hundred thousand readers, with our Bangla site we intend to reach millions. More people will now benefit from our content which promotes and connects people involved in startups and businesses“. Fayaz Taher, Co-Founder and CFO of SD Asiasaid, “It has been one of our dreams to provide Bangla news about events, opportunities and inspirational stories about entrepreneurship in our own mother tongue, Bangla, and we made this dream come true“. Samad Miraly, Co-Founder and Director, International Partnerships of SD Asia said, ” We continue telling Bangladesh’s story abroad, but in Bangladesh, what better way to let people know about innovative business than in bangla itself?

The lack of Bangla content has been a major reason for low internet penetration in Bangladesh. However between 2009 and 2011, internet users in Bangladesh increased by a whopping 900%, from 0.4% of the population to 3.5% of the population. In line with the increase in internet users in Bangladesh, there has been growing demand for Bangla content, including content that focuses on inspiring stories about entrepreneurship and innovation, opportunities and events. Being at the center of the Bangladeshi startup scene, SD Asia has tried to respond to that.

Having launched early in 2014, SD Asia has reached a number of milestones that include:

  • Hosting 2 major startup conferences with over 20 international speakers
  • Training over 100 startup companies from around the country and helping them improve their business models
  • Arranging 2 dozens meetups for investors, entrepreneurs and developers
  • Showcasing over 30 startups to international investors
  • Establishing itself as the go to destination for startups both home and abroad
