Kodeeo Creating Vibes with Mobile & Web Apps

Meet a young techpreneur Sumon Selim, who has strong connections with the startup scene and events that fuel entrepreneurship in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is blessed with a lot of talented and creative people, but a majority people from this talent pool fails to move to the next level and become entrepreneurs. This is why Kodeeo was founded, it helps tech ideas to evolve and helps them to be turned into businesses. SD Asia spoke with Sumon Selim to know more about what Kodeeo is all about.

Q. Tell us about your business

Kodeeo is a Bangladesh based web solutions venture which assists companies, organizations and start­ups to materialize their ideas into great projects. We craft beautiful and engaging digital solutions across all platforms. We are experts at web development, mobile apps development, graphics design, digital marketing and a number of other tech solutions.

Q. What led you to starting Kodeeo?

I am a web developer by profession and have been working in the tech industry since 2010. After attending Startupbashbd (as an Ambassador there), I found out how people were working on various projects and felt that I also had a strong interest and potential to try to create something on my own. I talked with some people who inspired me a lot and thats what led me to starting Kodeeo. Initially I was bootstrapping on my own and later built a team with some of friends.

Q. What is the business model? How do you make money?

Currently we are making money by providing/selling our services and products which includes but is not limited to web development, mobile app development, technical support, domain and hosting.

Q. What are the main challenges that you faced in setting up Kodeeo?

The main challenge was to find people who are professional and who share the same vision to take the company to a stable position. Most of the time, people lose interest and give up. But we started with the determination that we will continue to give our best and never give up.

Q. What is your target market? How large is it?

Our target market includes anyone who is connected with the internet and wants to develop a website/mobile app for his/her company, needs technical support or wants to start his/her own business online. The market is huge and increasing day by day. And at the same time, the competitors are growing too. Our promise is to give the best service and our strong connection with the community is helping us keep this promise.

Q. What are your future plans with the company?

Currently we are only providing services. But we have started to develop our own products which includes mobile apps and web applications which will solve problems for users and help to manage business in an effective way.

Q. Why did you choose to do your own startup instead of getting a job?

Doing a job was never my thing. I liked to remain independent and work on my own. The thing that pushed me harder was that I wanted to work on my own dream rather than work for others to develop their dreams. So, I took a risk and started to work on my own dream.

Q. How did you get started?

Initially I started with some of my friends and made a team. I then started to get work from foreign clients and also from local clients. I then partnered with some start-ups as technical partners. This was helpful for bootstrapping.

Q. What advice would you give to other startups?

The most needed thing is courage and determination. Never give up and keep fighting. Also be careful to take decisions. Having a good team is also a must. So try to build a team which shares a common dream and goal.
